Volunteer Opportunity

Mentoring Couple

Catholic Charities is seeking an adult couple to provide mentoring support for a young, single father of two small boys, ages 6 and 2. The father has progressively failing eyesight due to diabetes. It would be incredibly helpful for this father to have someone to talk to and help him stay on track with household management.

Volunteer Tasks: Provide household management support; possibly, occasional transportation to appointments; parenting coaching; homework support; other tasks recognized as helpful to the situation that the volunteer is able/willing to perform.

Volunteer Qualities/Skills: empathy; good organization and problem-solving skills; knowledgeable or experience working with the vision impaired would be ideal; knowledge of diabetic care.

Frequency of Support: At least once a month; although more often is desired and will be at the discretion of the volunteers and father.
Duration: Ongoing

Requirement: Volunteers must be VIRTUS trained and current with bulletins and background check; transportation.
