Donors Bill of Rights

We pledge to keep you informed of donations and how we use them!

Your gift to Catholic Charities is a voluntary action for the common good. To assure that you, our donors and prospective donors, can have full confidence in Catholic Charities and the causes you may be asked to support, we declare that all donors have the following rights:

  • To be informed of Catholic Charities’ mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
  • To be informed of the identity of those serving on Catholic Charities’ governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
  • To have access to Catholic Charities’ most recent financial statements.
  • To be assured that your gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
  • To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
  • To be assured that information about your donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
  • To expect that all relationships with individuals representing Catholic Charities’ will be professional in nature.
  • To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.
  • To be free of concern that your name will be shared with other organizations for the purpose of solicitation without your express permission.
  • To have a choice as to whether your name will be acknowledged in publications of Catholic Charities.
  • To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.

When you make a gift to Catholic Charities we will acknowledge your gift, record the nature and amount of your gift along with any restrictions you may place upon the gift and your contact information. This information is logged into a secure data base in which are stored your giving history and the nature of your relationship with Catholic Charities. This information will never be shared with parties outside of Catholic Charities to the extent such protection is provided by law, and your contact information will never be provided to others who might have an interest in your giving history with Catholic Charities.
