Important Information for Your First Counseling Appointment

Your first appointment at Catholic Charities will include 30 minutes for registration as a new client plus 50-60 minutes with a counselor, unless Client Care specifies a longer counseling session. Please bring all required documents to your first appointment to avoid the need to reschedule.

Not all program services provided by a counselor at Catholic Charities require a client fee. Client Care will inform you in advance if the service requires a fee.

Some insurance is accepted by Catholic Charities however, medical cards are not accepted. New clients must provide proof of insurance (if applicable) at your first appointment.

All new clients must provide income verification at your first appointment, whether you have insurance or not. Income verification is used to determine service fees.

Insurance

If you have insurance, please bring your insurance card or other form of proof of insurance. Catholic Charities accepts some insurances. Applicable insurance co-pays will be collected prior to service.

Income Verification

Fees are based upon an income-based sliding scale ranging from $10 to $100.

Catholic Charities accepts the following forms of income verification:

Income Tax form with adjusted gross income
Two most recent paystubs
Social Security Award Letter/benefits
Disability/Unemployment Award Letter/benefits
Child Support

Please note that total combined household income and number of household members are both used to determine client fees.

No Income

If you receive no income, you will need to provide documentation such as food stamp voucher, a letter from a social worker stating “not employed” or “not receiving any income.” If you are living in a shelter, a letter from the shelter is required.

If insurance or income verification is not provided at your first appointment, you will be charged a $45 fee prior to meeting with a counselor or you may reschedule the appointment until insurance or income verification is provided.

Fees including insurance co-pays are due at the time of service and are payable in cash, check or credit card. Catholic Charities does not accept medical cards.
