Volunteer Opportunity

Computer Tutor

Catholic Charities is seeking a VIRTUS trained adult volunteer for a short-term opportunity to teach an adult client how to use a laptop and smartphone (neither are Apple products).   

Volunteer Tasks: Provide instructional laptop and smartphone training including email set-up and usage, internet usage, computer safety i.e. antivirus/firewall set-up, as well as other timesaving/organizational and entertaining advantages each product provides.   

Volunteer Qualities/skills:  Patience; ability to communicate in simplified terms; encouraging.  Computer literate.  Our adult client has no prior knowledge or experience with computers. 

Frequency/duration of Commitment:  One hour tutoring sessions, once or maybe twice a week, depending on both volunteer and client’s availability.  Duration to be determined by client’s progress.

Location:  Volunteer and client will meet at Catholic Charities during its normal business hours, M-F 9:00-5:00 PM. (most Wed. and Thurs. until 6:30 PM)
