The Diocese of Covington’s Catholic Charities is seeking to hire a Counselor for our Mental Health and Substance Use Program. The position is 40 hours per week or 100% FTE. 

Overall Purpose:

Staff person performs all the duties of the Counseling Independent Specialist.

Educational and Experiential Criteria:

  • Master’s degree plus three years related experience.  
  • Advanced licensure or certification indicating ability to practice independently or be within one year of that certification, such as LPCC, LCSW, and preferably CADC. 
  • Experience with diverse populations including children, adults, couples, and families, those with mental illness and substance use disorders, life transitions, all income levels, various cultural backgrounds.
  • Have knowledge and experience in assessing substance use disorders.
  • Performs all the duties of the independent therapist and demonstrates an ability to function independently with only administrative oversight.
  • Participates in internal and external functions which advance the cause of human services in the agency and in the community including: advocacy, teaching, participation in planning processes, etc. 

Responsibilities:

  • Sessions will include assessment, case management and therapy to children, families, and adults within the outpatient program; facilitate groups as appropriate.
  • Assist the clients in complying with agency policies and procedures for the good order of the agency including but not limited to payment of fees and appropriate use of time.
  • Maintain the best practices in counseling through consultation and supervision provided by the agency and through the clinician’s own resources.
  • Keep all records current and in compliance with the quality assurance program and accreditation standards.
  • May require delivery of services off site in collaborating community agencies or schools.
  • Assist with functions that further the agency’s mission.  (Special events, public speaking, radio show/video, community coalitions).

Salary range is $38,000-$48,500. Salary is based on education, advanced license and related experience.
