Catholic Charities, Diocese of Covington is accepting qualified candidates for a Jail Ministry Coordinator. The position is 40% FTE (16 hours a week, including some evenings).


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human service field. Experience in some aspect of pastoral ministry preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of community resources in Northern Kentucky
    Ability to network and coordinate activities with community partners dedicated to working with prisoners, ex-offenders, their families and their victims.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and restorative justice.
  • Strong work ethic, excellent with details, and a self-starter
  • Good problem solver and listener
  • Strong boundaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
  • Must have the ability to remain calm and composed under stress;

Responsibilities of Jail Ministry Coordinator, 40% FTE

  • Develop and maintain resources that address needs of the incarcerated, the newly released, and their families as well as victims and their families.
  • Provide a diocesan framework for the recruitment, certification and training of volunteers to participate in jail/prison ministry.
  • Maintain programmatic quality and quantity assurance measures.
  • Participate in the Northern Kentucky Reentry Team.
  • Coordinate and lead the jail ministry advisory committee; engage with members to provide support to jail ministry volunteers.
  • Monitor and provide support to the family support group.
  • Mentor and provide support to the Praise and Worship group.
  • Ensure jail ministry volunteer compliance with Virtus.
  • Support and participate in advocacy activities that help ex-offenders succeed.
