Job Title: Assistant Manager Parish Kitchen

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Covington is seeking an individual for our Parish Kitchen. This position is full time, generally 5 days M-F from 7:00 am-2:00 pm but some evening or weekend coverage will be necessary.

Overall Purpose:

Significant staff role that sets the tone for the dining room, ensuring that meals are served efficiently and courteously, that the area maintains the highest state of cleanliness, and utilizes volunteers effectively. Responsible for the flow of patrons, management of tables, and greeting guests as they enter. It is critical that the Assistant Manager possess good people skills and is comfortable serving in a Catholic faith-based ministry.

Educational and Experiential Criteria:

  • Bachelors in a human service field or Associate Degree and 2 years experience
  • Awareness of poverty, addiction and mental health issues
  • Ability to work with the poor and homeless
  • Ability to lift 35-50 pounds
  • Ability to work with volunteers

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with meal preparation, including planning, preparing and cooking
  • Assists in the serving of food
  • Assists in controlling food costs by watching food production and portions closely
  • Maintain cleanliness of the facility including sweeping and mopping
  • Receive and record donations of food and materials
  • Assist with government inventory and assist with pick up of government commodities
  • Follow all sanitation and safety guidelines
  • Coordinate volunteers
  • Assist the Director at her/his discretion 

Salary is based on education and related experience.

Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
