Volunteer Coordinator

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Covington is seeking one full time (40 hours a week M-F) Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator is involved with all aspects of volunteer recruitment, training, appreciation and retention. The Coordinator identifies, engages, cultivates, and maintains volunteer relationships so that volunteers have positive and meaningful experiences.

Educational and Experiential Criteria:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, philanthropic development or related field and 2-4 years’ experience in volunteer program management. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered;

Desired Skills and Qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated experience with community outreach and building collaborative partnerships;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
  • Demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in MS Office;
  • Must have the ability to remain calm and composed under stress;

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment, orientation, training, assignment, appreciation and retention of volunteers.
    • Creates written volunteer position descriptions and market volunteer opportunities via parish bulletins, agency website, social media, etc;
    • Oversees the Virtus program for Volunteers;
    • Ensures that volunteers receive an annual evaluation
    • Screens and orients new volunteers
    • Ensures that volunteers are trained for their assignment
  • Maintenance of records of volunteer hours and assignments
  • Coordination of the Adopt a Family for Christmas families and St Joseph Apartments residents
  • Provides and prepares meals for events such as board meetings, agency meetings and volunteer appreciation week
  • Coordinates annual volunteer recognition events to recognize volunteer groups such as receptionist, Parish Kitchen, cooking team, etc. Creates ongoing methods of recognizing volunteers.
  • Coordinates the food preparation with cooking team for the CaSSba event or other special events

Supervision of Volunteer Receptionists

  • Works with the two Volunteer Coaches to assure that there is adequate coverage of front desk.
  • Coordinates a training plan for the front desk receptionist including agency policies and procedures

Coordination of Reach and Teach -- Afterschool Mentoring Program

  • Works with the School Services Supervisor for the growth and implementation of the Reach and Teach Program
  • Works with local high school service coordinators and guidance counselors on recruiting and training High School mentors for the Reach and Teach program.

‘In Kind’ Donations management:

  • Oversee all ‘in kind’ donations made to the agency
  • Solicitation of ‘in kind’ donation drives (parishes, companies, schools)

Emergency Management for the Diocese of Covington (as needed)

  • Represent agency in local disaster recovery meetings as needed
  • In the event of a local disaster coordinate case management and organize local and national volunteer groups to assist with clean up and rebuilding.

Salary range $29,500 - $44,000 based on education and experience in this field
