Accounting Associate

 

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Covington, is seeking to hire a part time Business Associate.  This is a non-exempt, part-time, hourly position, 20 hours a week. 

 Overall Purpose

Under the general direction of the Controller: assists with all activities in connection with financial and business matters, including budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, external audit, policies, and procedures for transacting financial business.

 Educational and Experiential Criteria:

·         A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting

·         Two years of progressively responsible experience in general financial operations

·         Functional experience in QuickBooks, Excel, Microsoft Word

  • A self-starter who can multitask, stay organized, and keep accurate documentation.
  • Desire to work as a team member.
  • Practicing Roman Catholic preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the general accounting activities of the agency, including the maintenance of general ledgers and monthly reporting. This includes.
    • Reviewing invoice/check requests for approval and ensuring entry in Accounting System for the various accounts.
    • Processing St. Joseph transactions in Accounting System.
    • Preparing various bank deposits.
    • Monitoring Accounts Receivable. (A/R).
    • Setting up 3rd Party Invoicing.
    • Preparing/entering monthly journal entries, including A/R and Payroll.
    • Reconciling St. Joseph deposit accounts.
    • Preparing monthly reports for Parish Kitchen.
    • Reviewing & analyzing budget variances.

·         Assists with the filing of appropriate external reports to government and funding agencies and with the preparation of grant proposals.

·         Assists with developing, monitoring, and reporting the annual budget(s).

·         Provides financial analysis for management.

·         Performs other compatible tasks as assigned by the Controller.
