Dear Friends,

As I am sure you are aware, these are challenging times for persons in our culture who are in need of professional mental health and human service assistance and particularly for those who are poor. These persons are struggling in large part due to a short-fall in Kentucky's Medicaid budget which is forcing low income persons out of the public mental health care system and into services at private non-profits like Catholic Charities. Most of these clients, in desperate need of services, are unable to pay even the lowest end of our sliding scale.

When people cannot pay for the services critical to their on-going functioning, when public funds are depleted and governments are running unfathomable deficits, when private foundations are stretched to fund even one more worthy endeavor, and when highly trained professional staff sacrifice the luxuries that come with salaries in the for-profit world, it is to you that we must turn in order to fulfill our mission of healing and hope.

I cannot adequately express our appreciation, on behalf of those in our community who have the least, for the ongoing generosity of our donors to our ministry. I can only echo the words of Jesus: in the Gospel of Matthew: “When you have done it for the least of these…you have done it for me. Welcome into the Kingdom, good and faithful servant.”

Sincerely,

Bill Jones, ACSW, MDiv
Executive Director

Gifts of Celebration or Rememberance

Thank you for considering a gift that provides healing and creates hope for so many!
Making a gift that helps others is a wonderful way to celebrate a milestone or remember an important person in your life. Celebrating events such as graduations, weddings, promotions, retirements takes on a new meaning when you help to improve the lives of families and children in the Northern Kentucky area. Likewise, remembering those who have touched your life in a special way takes on greater meaning when your generosity helps those in need. There are two ways to make a gift in celebration or remembrance:You may contact Cathy Hiance via e-mail at chiance@covingtoncharities.org, or by calling (859)581-8974, or toll free 1-866-440-9612. Each gift is acknowledged as we send a letter to the honored person or family of the deceased person in whose name the gift is being made. The notification does not include the amount of the gift. However, as a donor, you will receive a separate acknowledgement of the gift with the amount recorded for your own records. Please note if you are planning for memorial gifts to Catholic Charities in lieu of flowers, it is suggested that you instruct the funeral director to include this phrase:“The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities. Please call (859) 581-8974 ext 115 or toll free 1-866-440-9612 or mail your contribution to, Catholic Charities, Development Office, 3629 Church Street, Covington, KY 41015.
