The Diocese of Covington’s Catholic Charities is seeking to hire a Housing Counselor. The position is full time.

Overall Purpose:
Implements professional housing counseling and performs all the duties of the bachelor’s level staff with an ability to work under minimal supervision.

Knowledge:

  • Background in mortgage, collections, foreclosure, or loss mitigation, the local housing market and an understanding of the issues associated with barriers to home ownership;
  • Basic skills in human relations, e.g. understanding human dynamics, listening, communication, group leadership, and establishing boundaries.
  • Case documentation, time management, organization, attention to details, initiative, enjoys working with a team, and competency in basic computer skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the homebuyer education program and conduct one on one Pre-purchase counseling
  • Delinquency/foreclosure counseling and financial management counseling
  • Complete assessment interviews, develop service plans and provide case management or facilitate referrals for persons inquiring about housing services
  • Respond to service assignments in accordance with established commitments to and policies and procedures of current funders
  • Work collaboratively with housing team members and supervisor to plan program changes or enhancements
  • Attend appropriate meetings/perform other duties relating specific to the role of a service provider when time permits (priority is direct service time, maintaining case files per agency standards, and funding report requirements)
  • Attend required training to maintain certifications.
  • Keep all records current and in compliance with the quality assurance program and accreditation standards.
  • Some Saturday’s and evenings required.

Salary range is $32,000-39,000. Salary is based on education and related experience in this field.
We offer an excellent benefit package, pro-rated for part-time, including: 3 weeks paid vacation (adjusted upwards for longevity), 14 holidays, 10 sick days, 2 personal days, health insurance plan (prorated based on FTE), fully paid defined contribution retirement savings plan (403b), long-term disability, life insurance, and business travel mileage reimbursement.
