Catholic Charities' Youth Development programs are Creating Leaders Conference (CLC), Hometown Heroes, Camp All Star, Teen Talk and Insights. The Youth Development Program encourages the development of positive social values, and fosters a healthy self image and healthy relationships.
Youth Insights is a one-day exploration of the realities of poverty and homelessness in NKY. It is an opportunity for Junior High level students to learn about the needs of low-income families through practical activities and visits to local social service agencies that assist those in need. Afterwards, participants develop and implement service projects that relate to what they have learned.
High School Insights is a one-day exploration of the realities of poverty and homeless as they relate to Catholic Social Teaching. Through a variety of activities, including prayer, discussion, and interactions with children in inner city elementary schools, high school students learn how poverty affects children and families in our local community and the call to faith in action is made real.
Creating Leaders Conference (CLC)is a statewide prevention effort guided by a philosophy which supports wellness and a healthy lif
estyle, reduction of risk and opposition to the use of all mood-altering chemicals. CLC is a place where students can develop leadership skills, make new friends and have a great time. This event helps students gain information and learn behaviors that lower their risk for unhealthy choices that include alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.
The CLC event follows a one-day (11 1/2 -hour) activity packed agenda. Guided by adult leaders, youth staff who once participated in CLC help lead the activities.
